Waiting on Wednesday!

Title: American Panda

Author: Gloria Chao

Publication Date: February 6th 2018

Summary:

At seventeen, Mei Lu should be in high school, but skipping fourth grade was part of her parents’ master plan. Now a freshman at MIT, she is on track to fulfill the rest of this predetermined future: become a doctor, marry a preapproved Taiwanese Ivy Leaguer, produce a litter of babies.
With everything her parents have sacrificed to make her cushy life a reality, Mei can’t bring herself to tell them the truth—that she (1) hates germs, (2) falls asleep in biology lectures, and (3) has a crush on her classmate Darren Takahashi, who is decidedly not Taiwanese.
But when she reconnects with her brother, Xing, who is estranged from the family for dating the wrong woman, Mei starts to wonder if all the secrets are truly worth it. Can she find a way to be herself, whoever that is, before her web of lies unravels?
From debut author Gloria Chao comes a hilarious, heartfelt tale of how unlike the panda, life isn’t always so black and white.

To be honest I had seen the cover reveal on twitter and immediately fell in love, so when I popped over to goodreads and found the summary I knew this was one of the books I would -have- to own once I have that universal necessity. Money.

I feel this is going to be a book that a lot of people may end up relating to in one way or another. For myself, I can definitely understand having expectations from your parents (my dad for whatever reason wanted me in the military. That would be a big NO from me, good buddy!) Whatever the reason, whether it be identifying with the culture or what have you, I can feel that this is going to be an amazing quirky read!

Now if only I had the patience to wait out the rest of the year!

What are you all waiting on?
